Rochester – Patrick "Pat" Kain, 88, of Rochester passed away at his home surrounded by his wife and children on June 7, 2025. Pat was born January 11, 1937 in Kincaid, Illinois to Lawrence "Pat" and Marie Kain. He graduated from Kincaid High School and earned degrees at Springfield College of Illinois (SCI) and Illinois College in Jacksonville.
Pat married Joann Bennett on August 22, 1959 in Kincaid, Illinois. They were married for 66 years.
Mr. Kain is survived by his wife, Joann, daughter, Kathleen Garst, and two sons, Patrick (Linda) Kain, and John (Julie) Kain, all of Rochester. He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Pat worked as an executive with the State of Illinois, starting as Sangamon County Superintendent of the Illinois Department of Public Aid and later as the Assistant Director of the Illinois Department of Public Aid Medical Program. After working for the state, he was Co-owner-Operator of Victory Hall Bingo Hall in Springfield, Illinois.
Cremation rites were accorded and a Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester, Illinois on Friday, June 13, 2025 at 10 am. The family will greet friends immediately after the service for a casual luncheon at the Village of Rochester Community Hall located at 1 Community Drive in Rochester.
A private inurnment will be held Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, Illinois
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
