Olaf William "Bill" Beard, 90, of Rochester, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Sunrise Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Virden, IL.

Bill was born on December 14, 1934, in Springfield, the son of Olaf L. and Lorene (Lovell) Beard. He married Bonnie Pusch on June 28, 1954, and she preceded him in death in 2012.

Bill served his country in the United States Army from 1953-1956. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and Springfield Elks Club. Bill enjoyed restoring antiques and golfing in his spare time.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bonnie, and sister, Nancy Lee.

Bill is survived by his children; Scott (Mary) Beard, Susan (Dennis) Gideon, and Cathy (Mike) Fiaoni; eight grandchildren, Audra (Jarrod) Millburg, Zachary (Anne) Beard, Lynn Beard, William (Rachel) Beard, Joshua (Jennifer) Gideon, Jacob (Dannie) Gideon, Gracie (Jackson) Redford and Rebecca (Stanford) McNeal; 19 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services with military honors will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Camp Butler National Cemetery at 2:00PM.

Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester is in charge of arrangements.
