Norman T. Braner
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Norman T. Braner, 88, of Springfield, formerly of Rochester, Ill., passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Concordia Village.
He was born March 29, 1927, in Rochester, Ill., the son of Fred and Ada Denkert Braner. Norman married Hilda G. Wallner on Sept. 3, 1950; she preceded him in death on June 29, 2009.
He was a retired farmer and previous partner of Herrin Ltd. Fertilizer Inc. of Berry, Buffalo, and Mt. Pulaski. He was a Rochester resident for over 68 years, a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rochester, and served on the Rochester Township Board for 28 years. Norm served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of Rochester American Legion Post #274.
He was also preceded in death by his parents son, Gary William Braner in 2007; and one brother, Richard "Lavern" Braner.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Carol "M.C." Braner of Rochester; two grandchildren, Melissa (Denny) Cave of Williamsville and Ryan (Sarah) Braner of Chatham; two great-grandchildren, Owen Cave and Hadley Braner; one brother, Byron (Jeaneen) Braner of Rochester; one sister-in-law, Virginia Braner; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 11, 2015, from 9 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester with the Rev. Sam Janssen officiating. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery where the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors.
