MSG Preston C. Reitzel Jr., USA, Ret., 84, of Pleasant Plains, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center.

Preston was born on June 21, 1933 in Newmansville, IL the son of Preston and Nadine Reeves Reitzel Sr.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and the U.S. Army retiring after 20 years of service.  He was a paratrooper and served during the Korean War.  He was a member of Richland Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Jerdena, Sarah, Lyle, Roberta, Vernon and Mardell.

He is survived by his companion, Ruth Dobson of Pleasant Plains; two nephews; and many friends.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 noon on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home with Reverend Keith Masten officiating.  Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors.
