Michael G Thompson, 58, of Springfield passed on at St. Johns Hospital on September 20th, 2021.

Michael was born in Springfield, IL on April 26, 1963 the son of Wilbur Thompson and Sharon (Lauher) Garrison.  On May 21, 1988 he married Joy Treat in Springfield and they had one son, Eric. Michael enjoyed playing wheelchair basketball and participating in wheelchair races. He was a member of the Illinois Jaycees in Springfield. Michael loved his family very much and he also enjoyed meeting new people and getting to know anyone. Michal worked for the State of Illinois for 15 years before retiring.

He is survived by his wife, Joy Thompson of Springfield; son, Eric Thompson of Springfield; sister, Kristine White of Springfield; sister, Lori Van Heis of California; brother, Robert Garrison Jr. of Springfield; and an uncle, Alan Lauher of Tovey; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents as well as a sister, Robin Garrison.

Cremation services will be accorded by Ellinger-Kunz and Park Funeral Home and a celebration of life will be held at a later time.
