Melvin R. Kuhnly, 74, of Petersburg, IL passed away on Saturday September 23, 2023. Melvin was born in Gainesville, TX on November 10, 1948 and was the son of Melvin L. and Ruth (Pearson) Kuhnly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Vickie Daughtry, Becky Balke, Sharon Sistrunk, and Ilene Kuhnly; children, Samuel Miller, Thomas Pickrell, and Carol Maria.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Barbara Marie Kuhnly; daughter, Christina Miller; step-children, Renea Cox, Becky Pickrell and Laken Costello; great granddaughter, Mariah Robinson; siblings, Edeth Kahle, Irene Kuhnly, Gary Kuhnly (wife, Donna), Pattsy Daughtry (husband, Randy), Charlotte Jones (husband, Danny), Kathrine Kuhnly, and Terrie Bozeman (husband, Roy); as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Melvin worked for Weber Aircraft and Brahler Tire & Auto for many years.

Cremation services will be accorded.

Visitation for Melvin will be held on Saturday October 7, 2023 from 11:00am - till the time of the Memorial Service at 12:00noon. Services will take place at St. John's Lutheran Church, 2477 W Washington St, Springfield, IL 62702.
