Max Eugene Carey, 77, of Illiopolis, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at his residence.
Max was born on January 25, 1939 in Harvel the son of James Edward and Pearlina Smith Carey. He married Harriett Adams on July 4, 1958 in Mt. Auburn Church of Christ.
Max worked at many Illiopolis businesses over the years including Perma Starch, Pritchett Hardware, Water Plant, Dekalb Hatchery and was a self-employed plumber for many years. Since retirement Max enjoyed playing bingo, camping and spending time with special friends at Riverfront campground in Shelbyville where he took daily golf cart rides with his dog Bucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and several siblings.
He is survived by his wife, Harriett Carey; daughter, Karen (Bryan) Patton; three grandchildren, Nic, Jensen and Tess; brothers, Jerry and Jim Carey; sister, Luella List; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Fullenwider-Park Funeral Home in Illiopolis with Reverend Dan Armstrong officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Illiopolis Fire Department.
