Mary Lou McClelland, 97, of Pawnee & Rochester, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at the Illinois Presbyterian Home. She was born on December 27, 1928, in Springfield, the daughter of Eugene and Matilda (Pulliam) Remington. She married Perry W. McClelland on July 8, 1959 and he preceded her in death in 2009.
Mary Lou was raised and lived most of her adult life on a farm. She devoted her life to her family and community of friends. Hard work was her way of life and her family was always her top priority. To her, the “best medicine” was always a hug!
She was preceded in death by her husband, her sister, Roberta Schultz, and her brother Eugene Remington.
Mary Lou is survived by her daughter, Joellyn (Tom) VonDeBur; son, Forrest (Kathy) McClelland; grandchildren, Kyle (Helena) and Casey (Heather) VonDeBur; Rachel Skaggs, Matthew (Jacalyn) Harms and Joseph (Lindsey) Harms; as well as 15 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026 from 10:00AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:30AM at Rochester United Methodist Church, 555 S. Walnut St., Rochester, IL. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Rochester United Methodist Church, or to the Illinois Presbyterian Home.
Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester is in charge of arrangements.
