Obituary

Mary Lou Harter, 87, of Illiopolis, passed away on October 9, 2024 at Pana Rehab and Health Center surrounded by her family. She was born on July 24, 1937 in East St. Louis, the daughter of William and Ruth Jordan. She married Virgil Harter on September 13, 1954 and he preceded her in death on December 3, 2007. They had seven children; Sandra (Gail) Matlock of Altamont; Wanda McDonald of Taylorville; Harry (Susan) Harter of West Virginia; Erma (Bill) Elam of Mt. Auburn; Jane (Dick) Horn of Smithgrove, KY; Joyce Breazeale of Newman and Henry (Amy) Harter of Moweaqua; 18 grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her children and most of the kids belonging to them. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Bobby, Larry and Mark; two sisters, Donna and Geneava; three grandchildren, Eric Elam, Tony Breazeale and Maggie Harter; and one great grandson, Dallas.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 from 10:00AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00AM at Fullenwider-Park Funeral Home, 200 S. Church St. in Mechanicsburg. Burial will follow at Mechanicsburg Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Harter family.
