Mary Lynne Blanco

Mary Lynne (Downs) Blanco, 79, of Rochester, passed away Friday, February 21, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Springfield.

Born on December 10, 1945, in Springfield, she was the daughter of James and Bernice Downs. She married Tim Blanco in 1965 and they shared nearly six decades together.

Mary graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1964. She worked for the Department of Transportation in the payroll and workers' compensation departments. Known for her love of hot weather, she found joy in spending time outdoors, especially cutting the grass. She was an avid reader, a devoted animal lover, and cherished time with her granddaughters.

She is survived by her husband, Tim; daughter Michelle (Chuck) Wasserstrom of Chattanooga, Tennessee; granddaughters Danielle and Nicole Wasserstrom; sisters Barb DuPont of Troy, Illinois, Carol Roth of Springfield, and Jane (David) Gasperin of Springfield; brother Jimmy (Becki) Downs of Destin, Florida; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her son, John Robert Blanco.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League (APL) or Wild Canine Rescue of Springfield. Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester handled arrangements.
