Marshall Leon Pressler, 68, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at St. John's Hospice.
Marshall was born on January 4, 1948 in Springfield the son of Irvin and Gloria Cook Pressler. He married Peggy VanBebber.
Marshall was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during Vietnam where he received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He worked for P&P Construction were he retired. He was a member of Laborers Local # 477 and Painters Local # 90. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, fishing and watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Illini Basketball.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Pressler of Springfield; three sons, Mark Alan (Kris) Pressler of Springfield, Marshall (Jamie) Pressler Jr., of Virden and Matt (companion, Christy) Pressler of Williamsville; one brother and five sisters; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cremation was accorded. Private graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Department of Defense Honor Guard and the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail will conduct honors.
Family and friends are encouraged to gather in the remembrance of Marshall Pressler immediately following the graveside services at the residence of Martha Beck.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Land of Lincoln Honor Flight.
