IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mark Allen
Sheehan
July 19, 1968 – April 6, 2025
Mark Allen Sheehan, 56, of Springfield, IL passed away at home on Sunday, April 6, 2025, with his family by his side.
Mark was born in Chicago Heights, IL to Mike and Betty Lou Sheehan July 19, 1968. They moved to Springfield when Mark was 10 years old.
Mark's career journey led him to Black and Company where he was a salesman for many years, traveling to customers throughout Illinois and Missouri. He loved his job and his customers. He could be relied on to help any day of the week. Mark's work ethic was unmatched, and he saw every job and project through to the end.
His two sons, Drew and Justin, were Mark's world. He was involved with their activities as they were growing up as a coach and supporter. As the boys grew older their bond remained strong, and they all enjoyed spending time together. Mark found joy and pride in their growth and happiness as adults.
Mark loved spending time with family and friends in his garage bar where he rooted for the Steelers, Fighting Irish, and Illini basketball. Football Sundays were a highlight of every fall. He organized and hosted many events that brought his Sandgate neighborhood together.
He was also happiest in the outdoors. Fishing, camping, and being around a campfire perfectly built and tended to by himself all were time well spent. In the summer his delicious tomatoes and peppers were known and enjoyed by many.
Mark had a presence that attracted people to him. His smile, laugh, vibrant personality, and positive energy made anyone around him feel like an instant friend. You couldn't help being drawn into his enthusiasm and enjoyment of life and fun.
After his cancer diagnosis mark continued to work, travel, and play as long and as much as he could. He fought and stayed positive throughout.
Mark is survived by his sons Drew (Lauren Capra) and Justin (Julia Call), Anne Emerson significant other, previous wives, Jennifer Sheenan and Brenda Bucher, brother Dave Scheuermann, and beloved Sandgate neighbors.
Thank you Mark for all that you were and all that you gave.
