Marilyn M. Woollen, 78, of Rochester passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016 at St. John's Hospital.
She was born November 2, 1938 in Greenview, IL the daughter of Forrest and Velma Reeder O'Brien. She married Arthur Woollen on March 2, 1957.
Marilyn retired from St. John's Hospital Neonatal Unit in 1994 where she worked as a clerk receptionist. She loved spending time with and caring for her family. She enjoyed reading, cooking, trying new recipes, working in her yard, and tending her flowers. Marilyn loved animals, especially her beloved dog Sunny.
She is survived by two sons, Mark (Linda) Woollen of Springfield and Troy (Carrie) Woollen of Taylorville; a daughter, Lori (Landon) Greaves of Bradenton, FL; six grandchildren, Eric Woollen, Shane Woollen, Chase Woollen, Amelia Greaves, Luke Greaves, and Jasmine Woollen; a sister, Geri (Walt) Davison of Green Valley, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur; two sisters, Betty Parrish and Norma Jean Ryan; a brother, Bob O'Brien; and two half-brothers, Chester and Forrest O'Brien.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Rev. Gary Winkleman will officiate. Casual attire is requested. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
