Marian Haines Marshall, "Aunt Mick"

SPRINGFIELD - Marian Haines Marshall, "Aunt Mick", 97, of Springfield, passed away of natural causes, Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at St. John's Hospice.

Marian was born on July 23, 1917, in Cotton Hill Township, the daughter of Jesse and Maggie (Drillinger) Funderburk. She married Roy Sherman Haines on July 23, 1938; he preceded her in death in 1978. She then married Lloyd C. Marshall in 1981; he preceded her in death in 2004.

Marian graduated from MacMurray College and taught school prior to working for the Department of Public Aid and retiring from there in 1976. She loved flowers and plants, was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, and a 55 year member of DAR. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her sister, Dorothy J. Thein and her family, Sharon (Max) Strasbaugh and Patricia Marconi of Springfield and James Roy (Marissa) Thein of Arlington, Va.; stepsons, William (Marianne) Marshall of Wisconsin and Robert Marshall of Texas and his family, Billy (Annie) Marshall of Texas; sister-in-law, Dottie Haines and her family, Connie (Al) Arthur of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; brother-in-law, Chester (Jo Ann) Haines and his family, Lori Jordan of Springfield, John (Pam) Haines of Auburn; nephews, Jeffrey Haines of Hawaii and Jay (Tracy) Haines of Nevada; and several step-great-grandchildren, great-nieces and nephews, and many close friends.

Cremation was accorded by Springfield Crematory. Private graveside services will be at Zion Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Whittaker officiating. Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life reception on Thursday, May 28, 2015, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at the Springfield Motor Boat Club.
