Margaret Lucille Phillips, 89, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at her residence.

She was born on April 6, 1928 in Meredosia the daughter of Herman B. and Inez Lymans Six.  She married Franklin Dale Ater; he preceded her in death in 1990.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing Yahtzee, solitaire, and puzzles.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Dale Ater; daughter, Brenda K. Tunnell; and five siblings, Mary Clark, Bess Treece, Russell "Pud", Kenneth and Junior Six.

She is survived by six children, Linda Kinzer of Springfield, Franklin "Tom" Ater of Livermore, KY, Rose (Dennis) DeMoss of Springfield; Kenny Ater of Springfield, Billy Ater of OK and Eddy Ater of Jacksonville; one brother, Howard Six of Murrayville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cremation will be accorded.  No services are planned.
