Mabel Ruth "Bootsie" Estes, 80, of Springfield passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center.
Bootsie was born in Springfield on April 30, 1941 the daughter of Daniel E. and Mabel I. (Turner) Hayes.
She married her husband James L. Estes on July 8, 1961 and they had 8 children.
Bootsie enjoyed watching and raising not only her children, but her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Children from across the neighborhood could always be found at her house. She also enjoyed rooting for her Chicago Cubs, playing Bunco, Texas Hold'em, and slots. The most important thing to Bootsie will always be her family, which she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Estes Sr.; her parents Daniel and Mabel; daughter, Cynthia Sue Martin; one brother, Ernest Hayes; two sisters, Mary Louise Carlove and Martha Ramsey; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Bootsie is survived by her children, Kelly (Jim) McCoy, James (Lucille) Estes, David (Lori) Estes, Ernest (Jill Ray Potter) Estes, Mark Estes, Matthew (Jenny White) Estes, and Cassie (Jay) Wolpert; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as numerous extended family members.
Visitation will be from 10:00a.m. – 12:00p.m. with funeral services to follow on Thursday October 28, 2021 at Ellinger-Kunz and Park Funeral Home, 530 North 5th St. Springfield, IL 62702. Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park.
A Celebration of Life will follow the burial at the Grandview Municipal Building, 1620 N Milton Ave, Springfield, IL 62702.
