Lyman L. Leach, 84, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at his home.
Lyman was born in Springfield, IL. on February 10, 1941, the son of Lilburn and Lottie (Hunt) Leach. He married Bonnie Stephens on November 8, 1969 and they shared 55 years together. Lyman worked for Western Electric, Illinois Bell, AT&T and retired from Lucent Technologies. He was a fixture at Buckhart Tavern for 64 years and was a great shuffleboard player. He enjoyed NASCAR and talking to any and every one he met, he truly didn't know a stranger. He and Bonnie were snowbirds at the Okeechobee KOA Campground in Florida for 25 years and he was a past member of the Blue Ridge Club in Springfield.
Lyman is preceded in death by his parents; 6 brothers, Elmer, Lloyd, Ralph, Paul, Lilburn Jr, and Clarence Leach; 4 sisters, Forrestine Musso, Maud Grieme, Opal Hullman and Clean Bell.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; son, Lyman L. Leach Jr,; daughter Kerri (Patrick) Krell; granddaughter Brittany Jones, all of Springfield; brother-in-law Danny R. (Marilyn) Stephens, of Sharpsburg, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private family burial will take place at Bethel Baptist Cemetery in Sharpsburg.
A celebration of Lyman's life will be held at the Buckhart Tavern at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers, 2361 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, N.Y. 10306, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester is charge of arrangements.
