Louis James "Jim" Bennett, 71, of Rochester, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023 at his residence.

Jim was born in Springfield on May 14, 1952, the son of Louis and Ruby (Mohler) Bennett. He married Hanne Kerzinger in August of 1991 and she survives.

Jim was a graduate of Rochester High School. He was a lifelong farmer, loved his tractors, and loved working on his farm equipment. Jim also worked for Neal Tire, and could put a tire on just about any piece of equipment or vehicle in record time.

He is preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Jimmy Funderburk, and his horse, Chief.

He is survived by his wife, Hanne; three daughters, Mona, Mandy, and Betsy; one granddaughter, Mya; sisters, Pat Funderburk and Peg Brown; and one niece, Becky Parsons.

Per Jim's request, cremation will be accorded and his ashes will be scattered on his beloved farm. Jim is now at peace and with his horse, Chief.

Memorial donations may be made to any local 4-H or to the Animal Protective League.
