Loretta Irene Carter (Barron), 95, of Dawson, IL passed away on Tuesday June 3, 2025 surrounded by her family.

Loretta was born in Johnston City, IL on February 18, 1930 the daughter of Harry and Margarett (McBride) Barron.

She married Herbert L. Carter on April 9, 1950 and he preceded her in death in 2003. Herbert and Loretta had three sons who she is survived by; Danny (Susan) Carter of Riverton, Paul (Barbara) Carter of Riverton, and Jeff (Angela) Carter of Chatham. Loretta is also survived by grandchildren, Aaron Carter, Chris (Kady) Carter, Ashley (Aaron) Dyas, and Austin (Rachel) Carter; as well as eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her brothers and sisters and her husband.

Loretta lived for her family and especially loved spending time outside and in her garden.

Visitation will be held on Thursday June 12, 2025 at Eastview Baptist Church, 2277 E Black Ave, Springfield, IL 62702. Guest may visit the family from 9:30am till the time of the funeral at 11:30am. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery at 1:00pm.

Pastor Bennie Fisher will be officiating.
