Obituary

Lisa Medbery, born on June 26, 1987, in Springfield, Illinois, passed away on July 12, 2026, in Conyers, Georgia. She was 39 years old.

Lisa’s early years were marked by her academic excellence. She attended Ball-Chatham Schools from Pre-K through 12th grade, where she excelled in gifted classes. Her dedication to education led her to complete her high school credits early at Lawrence Education Center in 2004. Lisa continued her academic journey at Lincoln Land Community College, earning an Associate in Arts degree in 2007. Her passion for helping others guided her to the University of Illinois Springfield, where she achieved a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work in 2014 and in 2015, she received a Master of Social Work Degree at Valdosta State Univ.in Georgia and her License as Master of Social Work.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Lisa served her country with honor. In 2006, she enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman and was stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base Florida. Her time in the military reflected her commitment to service and discipline.

Lisa found immense joy and fulfillment in her family life. She is survived by her loving husband, Jarod; their cherished daughter, Chloe; her mother, Linda McIntyre; her sister, Rachel McIntyre; and her father, Leroy McIntyre. She also leaves behind her grandmother Barbara Shipman and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who will remember her fondly.

She was predeceased by several beloved family members: Greg Wacaser (her bonus dad), grandparents Max and Virgene McIntyre and John Shipman Sr., uncle John Shipman Jr., and cousins Tommy Acton and Erica Walls.

Lisa’s passions extended beyond academics and service. She found solace and inspiration in music, playing the piano brought her great joy and she was an avid reader with a deep appreciation for books. Her love for wildlife reflected her gentle spirit and connection to nature. Above all else, Lisa treasured the time spent with her daughter Chloe.

Lisa’s memory will be cherished by all who knew her. May those who loved her find comfort in remembering the warmth she brought into their lives. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 25, from 10:00AM until the time of the funeral service at 10:30AM at Wilson Park Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St. Rochester, IL. 62563.
