Leonard Alvie Fishburn
MECHANICSBURG, IL - Leonard Alvie Fishburn, 83, died on April 10, 2014, at his residence in Mechanicsburg after a brief battle with cancer.
Leonard was born July 19, 1930, in Bolivia, Ill., the son of Alvie and Floria Sylvia Ealey Fishburn, last surviving grandson of William A. Fishburn of Pike County, Ohio. He married Doris Spain on Jan. 14, 1950.
He was an Operating Engineer for Local Union 965. He enjoyed fishing and playing music on his banjo with his sons and family.
He was preceded in death by four sons: Allen (1951), Larry Dean (1952), Gary Lynn (1976) and Clifford Dale (1985); seven sisters: Flora, Mildred, Mary, Agnes, Erma, Faye and infant sister, Sylvia; one half-sister; and four half-brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Doris of Mechanicsburg; five children: Terry (Jackie) Fishburn of Taylorville, Brenda (Dave) Coyle of Peoria, Betty (Wade) Patrick of Mt. Auburn, Tony (Dorothy) Fishburn of Palmer and Todd (Gitana) Fishburn of Rochester; three sisters: Pearl Fields of Mechanicsburg, Doris Bolt of Atwood and Ruby Frey of Kirby, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2014, at Fullenwider-Park Funeral Home in Mechanicsburg. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 14, 2014, at the funeral home, the Rev. Larry Hansen officiating. Burial will follow at Mechanicsburg Cemetery.
