Leona Mary Sullivan, 85, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at her residence. Leona was born on December 9, 1932 in Springfield the daughter of Charles Edwin and Evelyn Matern Arn. She married Richard Sullivan in 1952. She worked for Sullivan Inn and Illini Country Club as the head chef and was a member of Third Presbyterian Church.  She had a passion for cooking, painting and ceramics.

What she enjoyed most though was just spending time with her family. She made sure everyone felt welcome in her home and she befriended everyone that had the privilege of being around her. There was always a Sunday dinner at her house where her and her daughter Vicki would cook the best dinners together.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Sullivan; parents, Charles and Evelyn Arn; two sisters, Doris Arn and Joyce McCallister; and grandson, Erric Burks. She is survived by three children, Vicki (Don) Sergent of Springfield, Patricia (Ron) Metzger of Springfield and Charles (Dennis Dodsworth) Sullivan of Baltimore, MD; siblings, Shirley (Paul) Bald of Chicago, Charlene Gasdoff, TX and Bob Handshy of Mattoon; grandchildren, Raquel (Andres), Eric (Megan), Nikki, and Becky; great-grandchildren, Sierra (Neil), Nevaeh, Dallas, Leah, Payton, Lakota, Alijah; great-great-grandson, Errik Neil; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at the funeral home with Reverend Joe Eby officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Along with luncheon immediately following at the VFW on stockyard road.
