Larry John Shoudel, age 87, of Rochester, passed away on March 12, 2026, at The Carriages in Rochester, IL.

Larry was born on August 19, 1938, in Hamilton, Indiana, the son of John William and Marie LaVerne (Kepler) Shoudel.

He married Mary Alice Shoudel on July 24, 1960, and she passed away on April 7, 2025.

Larry started his career as a Civil Engineer with the Illinois Department of Transportation in 1961 and retired from the same in 1991. He was an avid golfer, St. Louis Cardinals fan, card game enthusiast, and loved traveling with his wife and friends, especially best friends, Clark and Kay McKee. He joined the Rochester Lions Club in 1977, and it became a source of pride for him that his sons joined him in that charity.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; daughter, Lynne; and sister, Carol.

He is survived by his sons, Dr. John (Maggie) Shoudel and David (Angela) Shoudel; and beloved grandchildren, Celine Shoudel, Keeley Shoudel, and Dalton Felber, niece Tracy (Daniel) Schnorr and nephew, Todd (Lisa) Johnson.

He will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends.

Cremation will be arranged, and a family graveside service will be held at a later date at Rochester Cemetery.
