Larry Woodrow Hinds, Sr., 69, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, February 3, 2017 at Lincoln Manor in Decatur.

Larry was born on November 18, 1947 in Peoria the son of Woodrow and Jewell Bowen Hinds.  He married Dixie S. Wright on November 14, 1964.

He worked for Fiat Allis for sixteen years, after they closed he went on to become a truck driver for various companies including IGOR the last eight years before retiring.  He also enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jess Cody.

He is survived by his wife, Dixie S. Hinds; five children, Mary (Bassam) Al-Khayyat of Springfield, Larry (Tammy) Hinds, Jr. of Colorado Springs, Co, Holly (Mazen) Asfour of Orland Park, Melody (Michael) Davis of Raeford, NC and Jeremy (Jill) Hinds of Indianapolis, IN; one sister, Faye Hughes of Pawnee; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Hanson officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
