Kenneth Lynn Syfert, 71, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center.

Kenneth was born on November 21, 1946 in Shelbyville the son of Kenneth E. and Esther Burrows Syfert.  He married Saundra Scheuer on September 21, 1985 in Wenona.

He retired from the Illinois Secretary of State in 2004.  He was a member of Kumler United Methodist Church. He enjoyed pottery, gardening, listening to Jazz music and tinkering with early model cars and motorcycles.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Nyla Syfert.

He is survived by his wife, Saundra; children, Julia (Aaron) Kemper of Greenup, Janice (Bryan) Watson of Paris and Kenneth E. (Fiancé, Brooke Emmerich) Syfert of Greenup; grandchildren, Ethan, Zach, Zeb, Cody, Janessa, Iysten, Kendyn and Will; and great-grandchildren, Aubree, Adelaide and Max.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Kumler United Methodist Church, 600 N. 5th St., Springfield, IL 62702.  Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Glenwood Cemetery in Shelbyville.
