Kenneth D. Kirkendoll, 78, of Virginia, IL passed away on Monday, June 6, 2016 at St. John's Hospital.

Kenneth was born on June 10, 1937 in Kincaid the son of Clarence "Pete" and Virginia Marie Baldon Kirkendoll.  He married Betty Powers on September 30, 1976 in Kincaid; she preceded him in death in 2009.

Kenneth worked as a coal miner for 30 years.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Thelma Dale; and one brother, Mickie Kirkendoll.

He is survived by two sons, Rodney Kirkendoll and Roy F. (Jackie) Throop Jr. both of Springfield; daughter, Dawn (Glen) Hopkins of Springfield; sister, Kathy Smith of Coffeen; brother, Norman Kirkendoll of Kincaid; three grandchildren, Dale, Craig and Jessie; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2016 at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Hanson officiating.  Private graveside services will be on Monday, June 13, 2016.
