SPRINGFIELD, IL – Julia Ann Sinkus, 65, of Springfield died on June 24, 2022. Julia "Julie" Sinkus was born on November 8, 1956, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of William and Barbara (Purpus) Sinkus. A lifelong resident of Sangamon County, she graduated from Rochester High School, lived in Springfield, and retired after a long career at the State Employees Retirement System (SERS). She was preceded in death by her father, William Sinkus, her grandparents, George and Mary Sinkus, and William and Maxine Purpus, and her aunts, Sara Graue and Marcia Dirksen. She is survived by her mother, Barbara Sinkus of Rochester, her sister, Jane Sinkus of Springfield, and her niece, Kallie (fiancé Ryan Green) Sinkus of Rochester. Julie loved her cat, Pickles, and the St. Louis Cardinals. She was funny and loving, kind and generous, and regularly shared gifts that made her friends and family feel special. At Julie's request, services will be private and limited to immediate family. Cremation will be accorded by Wilson Park Funeral Home, with interment at Rochester Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League, 1001 Taintor Rd., Springfield, IL 62702.
