Joy Davison Sexton, 90, died October 7, 2021 at River Birch Senior Living in Springfield. She was born July 24, 1931, in Fairfield, Iowa, the daughter of Jess Lloyd and Grace Weaver Davison. She married Clarence A. (Red) Sexton in 1960 and he died in 1989.
Preceding her in death were her parents; four brothers, Lloyd, Dale, Max, and George.
She was a graduate of Wapello, Iowa High School and Gem City Business College in Quincy, IL. Mrs. Sexton was employed by the Illinois Department of Revenue retiring in 1991. She previously worked for Graybar Electric, Springfield Housing Authority, and Capital Automotive. She was a 65 year member of First United Methodist Church, a 25 year member of F.O.E. #467 Auxiliary, a member of Fit Club, volunteer at Memorial and St. John's Hospital, and Springfield Women's Bowling Assn.
Survivors are two step-daughters, Linda L. (husband, James) Ray and Ethel L. Stephens of Springfield; a step-son, Richard E. Sexton of Sacramento, CA., several step-grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday October 19, 2021 at 11am at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield.
