Joseph "Mickey" Carlove, 68, of Springfield, Illinois, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind a legacy of joy and cherished memories.
Born on October 15, 1956, Mickey was the son of Joseph and Mary Carlove. A free-spirited soul, he embraced life's adventures with enthusiasm, had a profound admiration for "western" movies, and lived with vigor and passion.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Barb; his children, Angelia Shaffer (Benjamin) and Amanda Carlove (Shayne Baker); his grandchildren, Alyssa Weitz (Ethan), Tyler Pfeiler, Mallory Bearden, and Keaden Hoyle; and his great-grandson, Greyson Weitz, all of whom were the light of his life. He is also mourned by his siblings, Pamela Manning (RC), Daniel Carlove, Susan Mauer, Kim Smith (Joe), Carissa Reynolds (Doug), Patrick Carlove (Kara), Timothy Carlove, and many nieces and nephews who cherished his free-spirited nature.
Mickey was preceded in death by his son, Gavin Carlove; his parents, Joseph and Mary Carlove; his sister, Laura Rhoades; and his niece, Amy Meyers.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor Mickey's memory and the joy he brought to those around him. Details regarding the burial and the celebration will be announced this summer.
Mickey's adventurous spirit and love for life will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
