SPRINGFIELD, IL - John W. Phillips, 61, of Springfield, died on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at his home.
John was born on December 2, 1954 in Hillsboro the son of Jackie Lee and Shirley Jane Boone Phillips. He committed his heart to Suzy Spitz in 1996; she preceded him in death.
He was the owner/operator of Phillips Striping and Restoration. He loved to cook, listen to rock and roll music and write. He could write so even his letters sounded like poetry.
He was also preceded in death by his father; Mother, Shirley J. Page and stepfather, John A. Page; and his son, Brent A. Phillips.
He is survived by his daughter, Brandy A. Phillips-Black (Tim) of Springfield; son, Brock W. Phillips of Springfield; brother, Donald L. Phillips (Charlene) of Bloomington, IN; sister, Tamara S. Page (Companion, John Laurenzana II) of Springfield; stepson, Josh Barnard of Springfield; stepdaughters, Carrie, Kelly, and Jenny Shafer all of Springfield; twenty-two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, and cousins. He will be especially missed by his friend, Jason Danenberger (Ginger).
Celebration of life will be from 1-5p.m. with a prayer service at 1:30p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2015 at the VFW, 2349 Stockyard Rd, Springfield, Il 62702 with Pastor Dave Harmon officiating.
Donations can be made to Lewis Memorial Christian Village in his memory.
