John Joseph Owens, 57, of Springfield, IL passed away on Sunday December 17, 2023 surrounded by his family. John was born in Springfield on November 7, 1966 and was the son of Orville John and Jean M. (Rudin) Owens.

John was a proud Northender and lived in Springfield all of his life. He was a local DJ in the community for several years and enjoyed all music. John also worked for the Springfield Clock Shop and was an avid clock enthusiast. John was also a member of the Knights of Columbus 4175 North Council and he was the part of the first CO-ED class from Ursuline Academy. John was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Springfield where Funeral Services will be held.

He was preceded in death by his father, Orville John Owens.

John is survived by his mother, Jean M. (Rudin) Owens of Springfield; brothers, Michael Patrick (Laura) Owens of Cottontown TN, Richard L. Owens of Springfield, and Brian (Sydonia) Owens Sr. of Springfield; nieces and nephews; Thomas M. (Katie) Owens of Springfield, Brian Owens II of Springfield, Zachary (Cierra) Owens of North Carolina, Alexandria Owens of Springfield, Brock Phillips Jr. of Springfield, Serenity Phillips of Springfield, and Gabriel Owens of Springfield; as well as several Great Nephews, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday December 21, 2023 at Ellinger-Kunz and Park Funeral Home (530 North 5th St. Springfield, IL 62702) from 4:00pm – 7:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church (1345 N 6th St, Springfield, IL 62702) on Friday December 22, 2023 at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
