Obituary

John Anthony Kuchar, 82, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at St. John's Hospital.

He was born on February 13, 1935 in Springfield the son of Frederick M. and Kathryn Reiser Kuchar.

John was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving for over 16 years, serving four tours of duty in Vietnam. He was with the Marine Observation Squadron 2 (VMO-2), and Marine Observation Squadron 6, AKA Tomcats (VMO-6), Marine Corp Base in Quantico, Ugly Angels Helicopter Squadron (HMM362), The Lucky Red Lions Helicopter Squadron (HMM363) and the Flying Tigers Helicopter Squadron (HMM262).  He also served on board the USS Princeton (CV-37) and the USS Iwo Jima (LPH-2).  After serving in the Marine Corps he began working as a meat cutter for Eastern Packing Co. and Midstate Meat Co.

He is survived by one son, Eric Kuchar (Doug Brackney)  of Springfield; one daughter, Anne Kuchar (Ronda Lufkin) of Springfield; sister, Frieda JoAnn Kuchar of Springfield; brother, Jerry (Eileen) Kuchar of Springfield; and four nieces and nephews, Mark, Matt, Jay, and Jenny

He was preceded in death by parents; a brother, Fr. Mathies Kuchar; two sisters, Catherine Kuchar and Mary Kuchar

Graveside service will be held 12:00 noon on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
