Joan Mavis
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Joan Mavis, 95, of Springfield, formerly of Rochester, Ill., died at 11:52 a.m., Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.
She was born Sept. 13, 1919, in Farmer City, Ill., the daughter of Harry and Hazel Sabin Williams. She married Alvin M. Mavis; he preceded her in death.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, John William "Bill" Mavis; and two sisters, Charlotte McKee and Mary Jane Barnett.
She is survived by two sons, A. Martin (Nancy) Mavis of Longmont, Colo., and Curt (Teresa) Mavis of Rochester; daughter, Malinda (Robert) Church of Springfield; daughter-in-law, Julie Mavis of Rincon, Ga.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Joan was a member of Church of St. Jude and was an avid bridge player. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Church of St. Jude in Rochester. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery
