Jeri Lynn Abbott, 71, of Dawson, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center.

Jeri was born on January 15, 1946 in Springfield the daughter of Lawrence and Geraldine King Comerford. She married Charles A. Abbott on December 18, 1965 in Springfield.

Jeri was a homemaker but after her children were grown she went on to work for Professional Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois and R.W. Troxell.  She enjoyed knitting afghans for newborn in the NICU at St. John's Hospital.  This Christmas she sponsored a Tri-City area family helping provide Christmas to them.  She was a former member of the Dawson Community Club, Dawson Boosters Club, Dawson Methodist Church, and an avid Cub's fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles, of 51 years; son, Scott Allen; three brothers; and a sister.

She is survived by two sons, Mike (Michelle) Abbott and Jeff (Jenny) Abbott; two daughters, Becky Abbott (companion Jennifer VanDeventer) and Cindy Abbott; three grandchildren, Alisha (Jon) Yoch, Tyler, and Nolan; one sister, Charlotte Foley; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Fullenwider-Park Funeral Home in Mechanicsburg.  Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the funeral home with Reverend Larry Hanson officiating.  Burial will follow at Mechanicsburg Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dawson Community Club or the Dawson Fire Protection District.
