Jay G. Huddleston, 74, of Springfield, departed this life at Memorial Medical Center on January 31, 2017.

He was born in Springfield to William Ray Huddleston and Mildred (Cravens) Huddleston on June 1, 1942.

He graduated from Springfield High School in 1960, and on September 15, 1962 married Mary Jean Schlueter of Beardstown at St. John's Lutheran Church.  He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Springfield.

Jay retired from City Water, Light & Power in January 1999, after 30 years of employment.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Fred and Margaret Schlueter of Beardstown; and step-mother, Mary M. Huddleston.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jean; two daughters, Julie (Dr. Dale) Fitch of Columbia, MO and Dr. Jodie (Dr. Timothy) Fan of Mahomet; five grandsons, Zachary and Evan Fitch and Taylor, Gavin and Kiptyn Fan.  Also surviving are one brother, James (Patty) Huddleston of Spring Hill, FL; and two brothers-in-law, Bill (Janice) Schlueter and Bob Schlueter both of Beardstown.

Services will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with a private family burial at Bethany Cemetery in Kincaid, IL following the services.
