Janice Kay Blackwell, 75, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Janice was born in Decatur, IL. on January 9, 1949, the daughter of Ralph and Kathryn (Morris) Grossman. She married Wesley Blackwell on August 12, 1967 and he survives. Janice loved art and painting as well as gardening. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Taylorville.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Larry, Ronnie, Butch, Steve, Robert, Gary, Harold and Dennis Grossman; sisters, Gloria Basil and Karen Hagaman.

Janice is survived by her husband Wesley; children, Wesley Blackwell II and Lori (DJ) Ferguson; two grandchildren, Damien (Brandi) Blackwell and David (Tiara) Ferguson; five great grandchildren, Caden and Zelda Ferguson and Jasmine, Saphrin and Quinn; brother Jerry Grossman; sisters, Joyce (Darrell) Church, Carol Etchison, Sharon (Dick) Goers and Jane (Roger) Downs; and sister in law, Jessie Adams.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 10:00AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00AM at Fullenwider-Park Funeral Home in Mechanicsburg. Burial will follow at Long Point Cemetery in Niantic, IL.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
