Janette A. Harden, 81, of Springfield, died Sunday, September 29, 2019 at her residence.

Jan was born on January 9, 1938, in Pekin, the daughter of Jesse Songer, Golden Gloves Boxing recipient, and Edna Sweat.  She married Ronny Harden on July 28, 1956; he preceded her in death on May 12, 2009.

Jan worked for the State of Illinois Department of Transportation retiring after 30 years of service.  She enjoyed playing slot machines, cooking, reading, gardening and walking her dog, Snickers.  She was a loving wife and mother.

Jan was also preceded in death by her grandparents and parents.

She is survived by her sons, Don (Johanna) Harden, Gary Harden and Daniel (Janine) Harden; eight grandchildren; Natalie (Kyle) Berkey, Nicholas Harden, Merideth Harden, Samantha (Antonio) Cippola, Sarah Harden, Jacob Harden, Brooke (Lenie) Kelzer and Talon Harden; and two great grandchildren, Jack and Grant.

There will be a memorial gathering from 5-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home.
