ROCHESTER, IL - James F. Waters, 93, of Rochester, died Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center.

James was born June 15, 1922, in Springfield, Ill., the son of Michael E. and Julia White Waters. He married Marilee L. Darnall on Aug. 2, 1954; she preceded him in death.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He retired from Waters Insurance Company. James received a Special Lifetime Achievement Award on July 4, 2004. He was on the Board of Trustees for Rochester Fire Protection District and past Board of Directors for Rochester State Bank and a past Rochester School Board Member. James was also a member of the Rochester Lions Club, and the American Legion Post #274 for over 60 years.

He is survived by four sons: James D. (Caren) Waters of Mechanicsburg, Christopher L. (Theresa) Waters of Dawson, Perry M. Waters of Rochester, and Thomas B. (Laurette) Waters of Springfield; one brother, Bernard R. Waters of Bloomington, Ind.; four grandchildren: Amy, Andy, Alison and Olivia; and one great-grandson, Landon.

Visitation will be from 8-10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 17, 2015, at Church of St. Jude.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 17, 2015, at the church with the Rev. R. Dean Probst officiating.

Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery where the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail will conduct honors.
