James J. Morton, 59 of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at St. John's Hospital.

James was born on February 5, 1958 in Springfield the son of Richard and Norene Prendle Morton.  He married Bonnie Cleeton on March 22, 1978.

He worked for the City of Springfield in both Public Works and CWLP retiring after 35 years.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his father; and son, James "TJ" Morton.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Morton of Springfield; daughter, Kimberly (Johnathan) Hazelrigg of Springfield; siblings, John and Robbie Morton, Mary Pratt, Sandra Locker and Linda Daniels; two grandchildren, Brianna and Austin Hazelrigg; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cremation will be accorded.  No services are planned at this time.
