James Russell Hullmann, 78, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. James was born on March 1, 1947, in Springfield, the son of John Henry and Cecelia (Heissinger) Hullmann. He married Donna Kozemczak on February 15, 1970 and together they shared 55 years together.

James was a farmer since he was 16 years old. He enjoyed going camping, fishing, and sitting around a campfire with his family roasting marshmellows. He loved to sit on his swing outside and talk to his cats. He especially loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

James is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dorothy Toland, Mary Ann Brennan, Ella Head, Christine Newingham and infant sister Donna Hullmann; brothers, Eugene, Thomas and Herman Hullmann.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; son, James R. Hullmann, Jr.; daughter, Kimberly (Hullmann) Johnson, grandchildren, David Esslinger, Jason Hullmann,  and Jordyn Stiltz; great grandchildren, Addison, Aria and London Esslinger and sister, Betty Davis of Yelm, WA.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025 at 11:00AM at Roselawn Memorial Park in Springfield, IL.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.

Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester is in charge of arrangements.
