James W. Havens, 85, of Springfield, IL passed away on Monday March 17, 2025. James was born in Roodhouse, IL on August 27, 1939, the son of William and Vera O (Shive) Havens.

James was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Daniel and Thomas Havens, and his ex-wife, Phyllis Akers Havens.

James graduated from DeVry University in Chicago, IL with a degree in Engineering. He worked and retired from IBM in Springfield, IL, having had several positions in the Engineering field.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Young Havens; children, Lynnette (David) Martin of Springfield, James (Jennifer) Havens of Normal; Step-Son, Mark (Seiko) Young of Japan; grandchildren, Jimmy, Maddie, and Tobey Havens, Grant Martin; step-grandchildren, Alex, Andrew, and Amy Young; brother, Robert (Karla) Havens of Jacksonville; sister, Betty Jefferson of Alsey, IL.

Cremation services are being accorded.
