James L. Carey, 88, of Illiopolis, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Villa Health Care in Sherman, IL.

James was born on September 30, 1934, in Harvel, IL., the son of James E. and Pearlina (Smith) Carey.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Marvella June Carey and one Granddaughter.

He is survived by his children, Michael Carey of Altamont, Cheryl Carey of Nokomis, Margaret Hilbert of Illiopolis and Steven Carey of Calhoun, Ga.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Per James' wishes, cremation will be accorded by Park Funeral Homes and no services will be held.

Park Funeral Home, 432 7th street in Illiopolis is in charge of arrangements.
