ILLIOPOLIS, IL - Henry D. "Hank" Scobell, 72, of Illiopolis, died at 11:29 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, at his home, surrounded by family and friends.
He was born May 31, 1943, in Hillsboro, Ill., to George and Grace Hartline Scobell. He married Beverley Workman on June 13, 1965.
Hank is survived by his wife; his daughters, Summer DeRuyter (husband, William) of La Verne, Calif., and Sunny Gemar (husband, Edward) of Austin, Texas; granddaughter, Sophia DeRuyter; sister, Georgia Scobell of Sarasota, Fla.; and brother, Robert Scobell (wife, Kathy) of Arlington Heights.
Hank was a senior research chemist at A.E. Staley/Tate & Lyle in Decatur for over 40 years. After retiring in 2005, he returned to work at EPL BioAnalytics in Harristown until 2012.
He was a volunteer firefighter in Illiopolis for 25 years and a 50-year member of the Nokomis Sportsmen's Club.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, at Fullenwider-Park Funeral Home in Illiopolis.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Illiopolis.
