Henry G. Bertels, 84, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Heritage Health-Carlinville.

Henry was born on June 16, 1934 in Belleville, the son of Henry and Lilly Bertels.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War.  He retired from Martin Machinery and was an avid fisherman and a diehard Cardinal fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia; sister, Evelyn; and grandson, Matthew.

He is survived by his wife/companion, Sharon Sue; daughter, Debra (Mike) Jones; stepsons, Jeffrey (Dawn) and Michael (Chawna) Miller; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester with Reverend Larry Hanson officiating.  Burial will follow at Rochester cemetery.
