Harold E. Nickles, 77, of Rochester, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. Harry was born on April 17, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Cecil and Mildred (Hall) Nickles. Harry served in the United States Navy from 1965-1971. He married Christine Delahunty February 27, 1976. Harry started working at Illinois Bell in 1971 and retired after 30 years from Ameritech in 2001.  Harry enjoyed fishing, watching sports, was an avid reader and also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bob and Donnie Nickles.

Harry is survived by his wife, Christine; and one son, Derek (Mandy) Nickles; two grandchildren, Colton Michael and Madelyn Grace Nickles; one brother, Lonnie Nickles of Louisiana; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 9:30AM until the time of the Memorial Service at 10:30AM at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery where Harry will receive Military Honors from the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Shriner's Hospital for Children.
