Glenda M. (Millikin) Stowers, 87, of Springfield, formerly of Jerseyville, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center.

Glenda was born on January 7, 1930 in Jerseyville the daughter of Glenn and Helen Brueggemann Millikin.  She married Harry "Gene" Stowers in 1957; he preceded her in death in 2006.

She worked as a supervisor for the State of Illinois Comptroller's Office where she retired.  She later became the President of Parkland Environmental Group.  She loved bowling, cooking, traveling the world, boating, gardening and flowers.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jody Zimmerman.

She is survived by her son, David (Tina) Stowers of Riverton; three grandchildren, Megan Chisolm and Evan and Arynn Stowers; one great-granddaughter, Mackenna; one brother, Nelson (Heidi) Miller; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester with Pastor Levi Vincent officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

There will be a memorial gathering from 2-4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Peace United Church of Christ in Jerseyville.
