MATTOON, IL - Gladys P. Whitman, 78, of Mattoon, died Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at Sara Bush Lincoln Health Center.

Gladys was born April 22, 1937, in Springfield, Ill., the daughter of Curtis and Ruth Larison Carter. She married Raymond Whitman; he preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 1996.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Mike Whitman; and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by one daughter, Deshae Myers; grandchildren: Trevon Nash Jr., Natasia Carter, and Bethany, Sara, Haley, and Audrey Whitman; great-grandchildren, Aalyiah Nash and Kayla Whitman; three sisters; three brothers; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

Cremation will be accorded by Springfield Crematory.

Private graveside services will be at a later date.
