George Edward Hensey, 87, of Rochester, Illinois, passed away October 3, 2024, in the comfort of home, surrounded by his family, following a lengthy illness.

He was born June 9,1937, in Springfield, Illinois to George F. and Wilma L. Hensey.

Surviving are Maryann Carol (Wathern), wife of 61 years (Married July 20, 1963); sister, Linda Wyatt of Springfield, IL;  sister-in-law, Karen (Gary) Fyalka of Mount Olive, IL; Children:  Deborah (Patrick) O'Dell, Terry (Susan) Hensey, Stephanie Hoover, Marci Hensey and son-in-law Harvey Hoover, all residing in Rochester, IL;  Grandchildren:  Alexandra and Sophia Hoover, and Tanner and Camden Hensey; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

George was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling anywhere and everywhere his family chose.  He was an avid gardener and loved being outside.   George loved all animals and had several dogs and cats throughout his life.   He was a devoted grandpa to both his grandchildren and numerous granddogs.

George graduated Feitshans High School in 1955, served in the US Army and retired from Growmark, Inc.

Several family gatherings were held during the final weeks of his illness and several celebrations of life continue.  At his request, there will be no formal services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
