Gene Edward Olson, 87, of Springfield, IL passed away at home on Monday February 26, 2024.

Gene was born in Essex, IA on November 1, 1936 and was the son of Paul and Sylvia (Johnson) Olson.

He married Cynthia Reese Davison on March 21, 1980 and she preceded him in death in 2017.

Gene was also preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Julie Olson; siblings, Marcella Olson, Richard Olson, Bill Olson, and Phyllis Swank.

He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Olson of Omaha, NE; stepson, Charles (Lori) Campbell of Springfield; stepdaughter, Jessica (Nick) Courtney of Springfield; son in law, Tom Terry of Omaha, NE; sister, Marilynn See of Nevada, IA; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday March 7, 2024 at 12:00 pm at Nishna Valley Funeral Home, 405 W Thomas Ave, Shenandoah, IA 51601.

Gene will be laid to rest at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Nyman, IA.
