Fritz Choutka
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Fritz Choutka, 62, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014.
Fritz was born to the late Doris and Alvin Choutka on Aug. 19, 1951, in Norfolk, Neb. He served in the U.S. Army and had a lifetime career with Midwest Safety. He and his wife Teresa met in the Panama Canal Zone and were married for 39 years.
He is survived by his wife and two children, Dave (Dawn) Choutka of West Lafayette, Ind., and Danielle (Robert) Osgood of Springfield, Ill., and four grandchildren: Jackson, Avery, Mya Choutka and Courtland Osgood. He is also survived by three brothers and three sisters and was blessed with many extended family members.
Fritz was an active member of Rochester Christian Church where he and his wife both served in different ministries. He was an avid fisherman that you'd often find trolling on Lake Springfield. He was famous for leading family and friends to catch the most and biggest fish of their lives! He was a huge fan of Nebraska football and, if you were a neighbor, you heard him cheering from his basement for his beloved Huskers. In the last year he was actively involved in visiting cancer patients and sharing the hope he had in Christ. To sum up Fritz he loved family, fishing, football and held tight to his faith.
The visitation will be held at Rochester Christian Church on Monday, Feb. 17 from 9-11 a.m. with the funeral following at 11 a.m.
The family is requesting that memorial donations be made to Rochester Christian Church or Stronghold Ministry at www.mystronghold.org.
